Trying to start the real flying trip

Finished up the family visits in Alberta, and crossed into the USA  Aug 19, and was informed, quite sternly, that I cannot get an extension on my visa, so have to leave end of Nov after all.  I had hoped to renew until Jan to be able to spend more time and money here (and they do need the money here, eh...), but not possible.....

I had hoped to fly up into the Glacier National Park from a perfect little grass airstrip at Babb, Montana.  But the wind was strong westerly over the mountains, and it's not wise to fly in the lee of such mountains with such a wind.....  So drove up to Logan Pass, but couldn't even park there, due to so many tourists lined up at the parking lot......

Scenery in Glacier Park
Not very inviting ultralight flying terrain......

Traffic in Glacier Park....

Weather forecast says a cold front is coming down from Canada (all bad weather always comes from Canada, eh...)  So kept moving south, with just short flights between storms, at Augusta and Dell Montana.

At Augusta, MT

Haying near Dell, MT

Fishermen camped in idyllic surroundings in Montana.
There'll be trout in that little creek.

Lush valley in a barren lanscape, near Dell, MT

.....................................................................................................

Then drove through storms all the way to Salt Lake City, and then very heavy rain there......
